About Author
B.R.Agarwala was born in the year 1926,studied law and topped the Bombey University,in 1955,winning the coveted sir Jamshedji Golden Jubilee Memorial Prize.In 1958, he was called to the Bar(Lincoln’s Inn) andsoon startedhis practice at the Bombay High Court. In 1959,he enrolled as an advocate at the Supreme Court of India. Apart  from  this book he had written a number of articles on law, sociology and literature.

SUMMARY OF THE BOOK
This volume, of interest to both lawyers and laymen, covers some of the important trials that took place during British rule. Beginning with the trial of bahadur  Shah Zafar, the last Mughal ruler, the book concludes with the trial of Sheikh Abdullah, who rebelled not against the British but against the monarchical rule. The trials depict the characters of each of each of the accused in a vivid manner. For instance, while Bahadur Shah Zafar appears a weak, senile and vacillating man unable to put any defence,  M.N.Roy, the firebrand revolutionary, stands out in his eagerness to propagate his views on the country’s freedom than to secure acquittal.
